Competitive darts across different standards
An online league can attract players with very different averages. Zombie Darts addresses that primarily through ability-guided divisions, then allows configured handicap rules to be used where the competition requires them.
Divisions come first
Published average bands help explain the intended standard of each division. League Control can use registered averages and running performance when deciding where a player fits. This keeps regular fixtures competitive without pretending that one number tells the whole story of a player's game.
What a starting-leg handicap means
Where handicaps are enabled, one player can begin with a number of starting legs already credited according to the configured tier relationship. A positive handicap means receiving starting legs; a negative value means giving them to the opponent.
Statistics stay based on darts actually played
Starting handicap legs are competition adjustments, not darts won at the board. They therefore should not inflate a player's 180s, checkout totals or actual playing average. Zombie Darts keeps the competitive score and the underlying performance record distinct.
Knockouts can use the same principle
Knockout competitions can have their own race-to format and handicap configuration. This means League Control can keep the intended competitive balance when a season moves from league fixtures into Championship, Plate, Shield or other brackets.
Why this matters
The aim is not to make every player statistically equal. It is to create matches where both players have a realistic competitive route while still recording the genuine darts performance that helps determine future placement.
